Fenix BC15R Reference ManualUpdated 3 hours ago

The Fenix BC15R is a lightweight rechargeable bicycle light. This summary is drawn from the manufacturer's official user manual — see the downloadable PDF reference manual on the product page for complete details.

Warning

  • Place this light out of the reach of children.
  • Do not shine the light directly into the eyes of anyone.
  • Do not place the light head near flammable objects — high temperatures can cause objects to overheat and become flammable/ignite.
  • Do not use the light in inappropriate ways such as holding the unit in your mouth; doing so could cause serious personal injury or death if the light or internal battery fails.
  • This light will accumulate a significant amount of heat while operating, resulting in a high temperature of the light shell. Pay close attention to avoid burns.
  • Turn off the light to prevent accidental activation during storage or transportation.
  • The LED of this light is not replaceable; the whole light will need to be replaced when the LED reaches the end of its lifespan.

Overview

  • 400 lumens maximum output and 78 meters maximum beam distance
  • Built-in 2600mAh battery
  • USB Type-C charging
  • Easy and fast operation with a single switch
  • Battery level indication and low-voltage warning
  • Anti-glare cut-off facula line makes urban commuting safer for oncoming persons
  • Compatible with Fenix bicycle light helmet holder and bicycle light holder with GoPro interface
  • IP66 rated protection
  • Size: 4.02'' x 1.24'' x 1.22'' / 102 x 31.5 x 31 mm. Weight: 3.84 oz / 109 g (including battery)

Operating Instructions

On/Off: press and hold the switch for 0.5 seconds to turn the light on/off.

Output Selection: with the light switched on, single click the switch to cycle through Low → Med → High.

Flash Mode: with the light switched on, double click the switch to enter Flash mode; single click again to exit Flash mode and return to the previously used mode.

Intelligent Memory Circuit: the light memorizes the last selected output, excluding Flash mode. When turned on again, the previously used mode will be recalled.

Charging

Switch off the light and open the anti-dust cap to reveal the USB Type-C charging port; plug the USB A socket of the charging cable into an electrical outlet, then connect the USB Type-C socket of the charging cable to the light. The indicator displays red while charging and turns green when fully charged — be sure to close the anti-dust cap afterward to maintain dust/water resistance. A full charge from depleted takes about 2 hours; recharge a stored light every four months to maintain optimum battery performance. Low mode can be operated while charging, but the charging time will be prolonged.

Battery Level Indication

With the light switched off, single click the switch to check the battery status; the indicator shows the status for 3 seconds: green on (saturated, 100–85%), green flashing (sufficient, 85–50%), red on (poor, 50–25%), red flashing (critical, 25–1%).

Technical Parameters (ANSI/PLATO FL1)

  • High: Output 400 lumens, Runtime 3 hours 40 minutes*, Distance 78 meters, Intensity 1504 candela
  • Med: Output 150 lumens, Runtime 10 hours 30 minutes, Distance 47 meters, Intensity 549 candela
  • Low: Output 50 lumens, Runtime 31 hours 30 minutes, Distance 28 meters, Intensity 200 candela
  • Flash: Output 400/50 lumens

Impact Resistance: 1 meter  |  Waterproof: IP66

Note: Specs measured by Fenix using the Fenix ARB-L18-2600 battery at 21±3°C / 50–80% humidity; real-world performance varies. *High output is measured in total runtime including output at reduced levels due to the built-in temperature protection mechanism.

Intelligent Overheat Protection

The light will accumulate heat when used at relatively high modes for extended periods, and will automatically downshift to a lower brightness level to reduce the temperature to a safe level. High mode can be reselected if needed.

Low-Voltage Warning

When the voltage level drops below the preset level, the bicycle light downshifts to a lower brightness level until Low output is reached. At Low output, the battery level indicator constantly blinks red to remind you to recharge until the battery level runs out.

Usage and Maintenance

  • Disassembling the sealed head can cause damage and will void the warranty.
  • Recharge the battery in time to ensure normal use for next time.
  • Recharge a stored light every four months to maintain optimum performance of the battery.
  • Once charging is completed, be sure to close the anti-dust cover.
