Battery Specifications

  • Fenix ARB-L18 Series (18650, 3.6V): Recommended
  • Fenix ARB-L16 Series (16340, 3.6V): Usable
  • Non-rechargeable Battery (CR123A, 3.0V): Usable
  • Other Rechargeable Battery, Li-ion (18650, 3.6V): Caution

18650 Li-ion batteries are powerful cells designed for commercial applications and must be treated with caution and handled with care. Only quality batteries with circuit protection will reduce the potential for combustion or explosion; cell damage or short circuiting are potential risks the user assumes.

Battery Replacement

Unscrew the battery cover counterclockwise to insert the battery in accordance with the polarity marks, then screw the battery cover back on.

Charging

  • Turn off the light and unscrew the battery cover counterclockwise to take out the battery, then connect the USB Type-C end of the charging cable to the battery.
  • The indicator on the battery will display red while charging, and will turn blue when fully charged.
  • Once charging is completed, be sure to unplug the charging cable and insert the battery in accordance with the polarity marks, then screw the battery cover back on.

With the light switched off, single click the side switch to check the battery status; the indicator in the switch will last for 3 seconds. Each time the light is turned on, the indicator will show the current battery level for 3 seconds.

  • Green light on: 100% - 80%
  • Green light flashes: 80% - 50%
  • Red light on: 50% - 20%
  • Red light flashes: 20% - 1%

Note: this only works with a Fenix ARB-L18 Series battery.

Intelligent Overheat Protection

The lamp will accumulate a lot of heat when used at high output levels for extended periods. When the lamp reaches a temperature of 50°C/122°F or above, it will automatically step down a few lumens to reduce the temperature. When the temperature drops below 50°C/122°F, the lamp will gradually recall the preset output level.

Low-Voltage Warning

When the voltage level drops below the preset level, the headlamp is programmed to downshift to a lower brightness level until Low output is reached. When this happens at Low output, the lamp blinks 3 times every 5 minutes on the Low output of White light mode to remind users to recharge or replace the battery. Note: this only works with a Fenix ARB-L18 Series battery.

Headband Assembly

The headband is factory assembled by default. Rotate the dial clockwise to tighten the headband, and rotate the dial counterclockwise to loosen it. When the headband hits its maximum length, keep rotating the dial and the operation direction will reverse.

Usage and Maintenance

  • Disassembling the sealed body can cause damage to the lamp and will void the warranty.
  • Fenix recommends using an excellent quality Fenix battery.
  • If the lamp will not be used for an extended period, remove the battery, or the lamp could be damaged by electrolyte leakage.
  • Lock the lamp or take out the battery to prevent accidental activation during storage or transportation.
  • Periodic cleaning of the battery contacts improves the lamp's performance: A) The lamp is locked — press and hold the switch for 3 seconds to unlock. B) Poor battery level — recharge or replace. C) Dirty contacts — clean with a cotton swab soaked in rubbing alcohol. If the above methods don't work, contact the distributor.
