Safe Use Warnings

  • Do not look directly at the light source, to avoid eye damage.
  • Do not place this flashlight within reach of children.
  • Do not place the light head near flammable objects. High temperatures can cause objects to overheat and become flammable or ignite.
  • Do not use this flashlight in inappropriate ways, such as holding the unit in your mouth. Doing so could cause serious personal injury or death if the flashlight or internal battery fails.

Operating Instructions

On/Off: When the toggle switch is set to Lockout mode, turn it to General mode to turn on the flashlight. Turn it back to Lockout mode to turn off and lock the flashlight. When the toggle switch is set to General mode, press and hold the electronic switch for 0.5 seconds to turn on/off the flashlight.

Mode Switching: In any state, turn the toggle switch to cycle bidirectionally through Lockout mode ↔ General mode ↔ Turbo mode.

General Mode: With the light on, single click the electronic switch to cycle through Eco → Low → Med → High. Press and hold the electronic switch for 1.2 seconds to enter Strobe.

Turbo Mode: Keep pushing the toggle switch to enter Turbo mode; release to return to General mode.

Lockout Mode: Rotate the toggle switch to lock or unlock the flashlight. In locked status, single click the electronic switch to check the current battery level.

Intelligent Memory Circuit: The flashlight memorizes the last selected output of General mode and recalls it on the next power-on in General mode. If it was previously switched off in High output, it will activate in Med output instead.

Battery Specifications

*21700 Li-ion batteries are powerful cells designed for commercial applications and must be treated with caution and handled with care. Using low-quality batteries or mishandling batteries (such as short-circuiting or overheating) could lead to combustion and jeopardize the safety of users and property. Any adverse effects resulting from the use of low-quality batteries are not covered by any Fenix warranty or liability. Using quality batteries with circuit protection will reduce the potential for combustion or explosion.

Battery Replacement

Unscrew the tail cap and insert the battery with the anode side (+) towards the light head, then screw the tail cap back on.

Charging

Open the anti-dust plug to reveal the USB Type-C charging port, then connect the USB Type-C end of the charging cable to the flashlight. The indicator displays red while charging and turns green when fully charged. Once charging is complete, unplug the cable and close the anti-dust plug. The flashlight can be operated while charging.

With the light off, normal charging time for the included Fenix ARB-L21-5500 battery is approximately 1.5 hours from depleted to fully charged with a 9V/2.3A charging adapter. Recharge a flashlight promptly before the battery level drops too low to maintain optimum battery lifespan, and recharge a stored flashlight every four months. Charging voltage: 5V/9V; charging power: 20W (9V/2.3A); fast charging is supported. Use only a certified USB charging adapter that complies with local safety standards.

Battery Level Indication

With the light off, single click the electronic switch to check the battery status; the indicator lasts 3 seconds. Each time the light is turned on, the indicator also shows the current battery level for 3 seconds.

  • Green light on: saturated, 100–85%
  • Green light flashes: sufficient, 85–50%
  • Red light on: poor, 50–25%
  • Red light flashes: critical, 25–1%

Intelligent Overheat Protection

The flashlight accumulates heat at high output levels over extended periods. At 60°C/140°F or above, it automatically steps down output to reduce temperature, gradually recalling the preset output level when the temperature drops below 60°C/140°F.

Low-Voltage Warning

When voltage drops below the preset level, the flashlight downshifts to a lower brightness level until Eco is reached, and when this happens in Eco output the battery indicator blinks red to remind you to recharge or replace the battery. Below 2.8V, the flashlight triggers over-discharge protection and automatically turns off to protect the battery. *Works only with a Fenix ARB-L21 Series battery.

Usage and Maintenance

  • Disassembling the sealed head can cause damage to the flashlight and will void the warranty.
  • Fenix recommends using an excellent quality battery.
  • If the flashlight will not be used for an extended period, remove the battery, or it could be damaged by electrolyte leakage.
  • Lock the flashlight or take out the battery to prevent accidental activation during storage or transportation.
  • Long-term use can result in O-ring wear. To maintain a proper water seal, replace the O-ring with an approved spare.
  • Periodic cleaning of the battery contacts improves performance, as dirty contacts may cause flickering, intermittent light, or failure to illuminate. A. Low battery level: replace or recharge the battery. B. Dirty contacts: clean with a cotton swab soaked in rubbing alcohol.
