What's the difference between lumens and candelas?Updated 3 hours ago

Lumens measure the total amount of light a flashlight produces, while candela measures the intensity of light in a specific direction (i.e. how far and how tightly focused the beam is). Two lights can have the same lumen output but very different candela ratings depending on their beam design - a light with a tighter, more focused beam (a "thrower") will have a higher candela rating and better throw distance, while a light with a wider, more spread-out beam (a "flooder") will have a lower candela rating even at the same lumen output. Check the product page for the specific candela rating of any Fenix light you're considering.
